Thanksgiving Weekend Leftovers

We spent the Turkey day holiday at the in-laws in Minnesota. We left Thanksgiving day morning and made the 3 hour trek to Blue Earth, MN, home of the Jolly Green Giant. The weekend was spent spending time with the family, eating, watching football, napping and eating. We had a nice relaxing trip with the only exception to the relaxation was partaking in a bit of Black Friday madness.

Who is the idiot whoever came up with this idea anyway. Yes, I know I do have a choice to go or not to go, but why the insanely early hours to open the doors. Wouldn't the same sale be just effective at say 7:00 or 8:00 A.M? Any way we arrived in the parking lot of the Blue Earth Wally World at 4:10 A.M. for the 5:00 A.M. opening. We ended up standing in line for about 40 minutes and 30 of that was inside the entry way, due to a very nice Walmart manager, in return she was not trampled by the crowd. Once in we collected the items we came for we checked out and then went back in to do some Christmas shopping for the kids, since they were still sound asleep at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

After a weekend of entirely too much laying around and eating I figured a ride was in order this afternoon. I considered the trainer, but the thought of it made me a little sick to my stomach, so I suited up and jumped on the trusted old Gary Fischer for a bit of urban Mt. biking around Vermillion. The temperature was a pleasant 32 degrees with a steady but light snow for most of the ride. It was nice to get out even though it was only for an hour and 1/2 or so. I was even the responsible bike owner and washed and lubed my bike when I got home.

Not much else for other news so....

WASHED and lubed?! Oh my, I thought I was the only one that did that in the winter. Wait, I think I remember SD Pedal Power doing such a thing...
Anyway, good for you on your ride. I was a complete veg all weekend. I am waiting on some new snow so I can ride to Gitchie Manitou State Preserve again...
